We are rather in the middle of the price range for the Actionpro 200004 X8 camera. It has a 12 megapixel sensor and a 2 inch display.
The scope of delivery also includes a waterproof housing which is watertight up to a depth of 50 meters.
Beginners have to invest a little more money, but this is not a cheap product, but a high quality camera. You can also use it as a dashcam. Alternatively it can be used as a helmet camera and for diving.
The photo and video quality are both quite good. The design is also a bit off the beaten track and doesn’t quite match the typical look of the products we usually present here.
Technical data and facts
A remote control for taking photos and videos is also included. It is integrated in the form of a bracelet, which you can use to quickly trigger a photo or start a video recording.
In the menu you have various setting options. These include, for example, setting the colour quality, sharpness and exposure.
For divers, the camera offers a special dive mode in which the light and colour settings are perfectly adjusted to the underwater environment. You can also operate the cam underwater, even though it is inside the housing.
Design
Although the Actionpro 200004 is very compact, it also has a built-in monitor which is quite large. In the diagonal you get here on about 5 centimeters.
The cam also has a lot of interfaces on the side. For example an HDMI output, where the live image can be transferred to a monitor and played back in high quality.
There is also the USB interface, which is multifunctional. This means that it is not only used for data transfer, but can also output an analogue video signal and supply the battery with power. A corresponding USB cable is included in the scope of delivery.
The dimensions are 6.1 cm x 4.1 cm x 2.1 cm and the weight is about 56 grams without battery, but 75 grams with battery. Nevertheless, the camera is a lightweight and very compact.
Camera
You can take great photos and videos with the 12 megapixel photo sensor. The Full HD resolution is 1080P and up to 60 frames per second can be recorded. At 4K it’s 24 fps, which is hardly noticeable, unless you play the video in slow motion.
If you want to film in slow motion, you can do so with the HD slow motion recording function, which can record at up to 120 frames per second.
The live image can also be transmitted to your smartphone via Wifi. You just have to download an appropriate app, which is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
We especially liked the fact that the Actionpro 200004 camera has an image resolution of 12 real megapixels. With some other camera models, an interpolation is used more and more often.
The battery
We are very positively surprised by the battery. This lithium-ion battery lasts up to 100 minutes when you film at 1080P and 60 frames per second.
The position of the battery is very advantageous, because the surrounding electronics make it possible that the battery is not cooled too much by the outside world. Thus, it is powerful and ready for use even at low temperatures.
Even the remote control, with which you can control your camera from your wrist, has a lithium ion battery that can be charged via USB. Unfortunately the remote control is not waterproof, which disappointed us a little bit.

Conclusion
Since the Actionpro X8 camera hasn’t been on the market that long, we can’t say anything about the durability of the technical components. But the first impression is very good and there are numerous features, technical specifications and modes.
The Exmor sensor from Sony works excellently and the 12 MP strong shots are impressive. Especially for divers this model should be quite interesting, as the camera can be operated inside the case, which is waterproof up to 50 meters. There is also the dive mode, with which you can take even better pictures under water.
