During an extensive research, which aircraft we should still include in our drone test series, we came across the Blade 350 QX V2 Quadrocopter.
It is very easy to operate and control, making it ideal for beginners and advanced drone pilots alike. With a weight of 580 grams, it can withstand even larger gusts of wind, which it balances with ease, since the Blade 350 QX V2 Quadrocopter has flight-supporting assistance systems.
We advise to fly the drone only outdoors, because of its dimensions of 46 x 46 x 13 cm. Children under the age of 14 should keep their hands off this copter.
On average, the drone manages a flight time of about 15 minutes with a fully charged battery. The range of up to 300 meters is completely sufficient, since according to the new drone ordinance in Germany, a drone may only be flown within visual range anyway.
The Blade QX V2 Quadrocopter has extensive sensor technology to determine the current flight attitude and GPS.
Unfortunately there is no fixed camera on this model, but the drone has a camera platform on which a GoPro camera can be mounted.
Scope of delivery and technical data of the Blade 350 QX V2
Included in delivery is actually everything you need for flying with the Blade 350 QX V2. The charger has an integrated balancer and supplies currents up to 3 amps. The radio remote control works in the usual frequency range of 2.4 Ghz. With this you can set different modes.
The battery provides at 2200 mAh for 15 minutes flight time (average) as already mentioned at the beginning.
If you should crash despite the numerous safety features, there is a set of spare propellers included in the delivery.
The complete scope of delivery at a glance:

Blade 350 QX V2 Flight characteristics
Flying with the Blade 350 QX V2 is quite easy. The controls work like any other drone. The almost perfect flight behaviour makes sure that even RC professionals can enjoy this copter.
Failures and thus crashes are very rare with this model, due to the numerous safety features. Among them is a Return To Home mode, which we will discuss in more detail later.
The mounting for the camera is a soft rubber fixation. A GoPro Hero 3 fits perfectly here, as do some of its successors such as the GoPro Hero 5,
but we don’t recommend trying to produce high quality shots in a big storm. This will cause the images to be blurred too much and the images will be of poor quality.
Up to wind force 3, good images can still be obtained in high quality, but from wind force 4, the quality decreases significantly.
In summer, there is usually no wind, so the camera can deliver professional-quality images.
Different flight modes
The Blade 350 QX V2 Quadrocopter has some flight modes and safety features. These help both beginners and advanced and professional pilots to have the maximum flying experience with the drone.
Smart Mode
Very interesting for beginners is the Smart Mode. Here the drone moves on the plane, which means that it keeps its height position and flies only in the direction in which the control stick is moved, regardless of how the “muzzle” is aligned. So if the quadrocopter is facing the pilot with its snout and the pilot pushes the control stick forward, the drone will not fly towards the pilot but away from him!
Furthermore, the integrated Save Circle Mode ensures that the pilot is protected from the drone! The Save Circle has a radius of 5 meters around the drone pilot. The drone cannot fly into this radius. It serves to protect the pilot from wrong manoeuvres with the drone.
In Smart Mode, you can only ascend to a height of up to 45 meters.
This mode also allows extremely smooth and quiet video recording with the Blade 350 QX V2! So it is perfect for hobby photographers.
Return To Home Mode
In the event of loss of signal or deliberate activation of the Return To Home mode, the drone automatically flies back to the starting point. One should only make sure that there are no objects between the starting point and the current position of the drone.
When the Return To Home mode is active, a red status LED flashes. Important for the proper function of the Return To Home mode is an existing GPS signal, both when starting the drone, switching to this mode and during the return flight.
Stability Mode
The Stability Mode is perfectly suited for advanced drone pilots. In this mode, the drone balances itself as soon as you release the control stick or a gust of wind comes from the side. So thanks to GPS and altitude sensors, flying is child’s play and the Blade 350 QX V2 flies through the air almost by itself.
However, the tilt angle is limited in Stability Mode and set to a maximum of 45 degrees to ensure flight stability and prevent the drone from rolling over or even crashing.
A beginner can slowly work his way up from Smart Mode to Stability Mode. However, there is no save circle in Stability Mode.
Agility Mode
It will be exciting for very advanced pilots and professional pilots in Agility Mode. Here most of the helpers are switched off and the tilt angle of the Blade 350 QX V2 can easily exceed 45 degrees. Thanks to the strong brushless motors this works without any problems despite the high weight of 580 grams + camera!
In this mode the copter does not stabilize itself any more! Flying and keeping the copter stable in the air is much more difficult and hardly durable for untrained pilots. However, with some practice even acrobatic stunts can be performed.
Starting the Blade 350 QX V2 Quadrocopter
The Blade 350 QX V2 Quadrocopter is very easy to start. To do this, the transmitter must be switched on as soon as the batteries are inserted. Then simply insert the fully charged battery and switch on the drone. The switch for this is located on the bottom side.
The drone’s GPS system should now couple with the surrounding satellites and it is ready to take off.
Conclusion on the Blade 350 QX V2
We think that this copter is especially worthwhile for beginners from 14 years. The flight modis are very nice and for the production of the drone only high quality materials have been used.
Beginners can easily work their way through from Smart Mode to Stability Mode to Agility Mode.
