This drone is a small quadrocopter with a 720p camera. You get a lot of quality for a small price. The video is transmitted live via Wi-Fi and you can control the drone in FPV mode.
The small drone model is small, but it can still be folded and therefore fits in any pocket. In this report we will give you some more details and a preview of what you can expect for about 50€.
Technical characteristics and construction of the DROCON NINJA FPV Drone
For many drone pilots, the visual appearance is a decisive purchase argument. Often technical equipment is bought because of its cool design, but sometimes appearances are deceptive. With the Dracon Ninja, however, you can be sure that you will get a reasonable performance for the price. She looks good and is also technically an eye-catcher.
The blue-black design has a modern look and makes a high-quality impression, both when folded and unfolded.
An extensive sensor system provides the perfect balance when flying. Especially for beginners, piloting the drone becomes child’s play. So you can take great pictures and videos from the bird’s eye view without any special flying skills and watch them later.
The drone can be paired with your smartphone and there is a flight mode in which you control the Drocon Ninja using only the gravity sensor built into the phone. When the smartphone is tilted forward, the drone flies forward, tilted backward, tilted backward, tilted to the sides, etc. Alternatively, you can also control the remote-controlled aircraft via the touch field using virtual joy sticks!
However, we recommend that you only fly when there is almost no wind or use the aircraft indoors, as gusts of wind can throw the Dracon Ninja out of its course due to its small size and weight.
You can surprise your friends and acquaintances with cool 3D flips. These can be performed at the touch of a button, it is pre-programmed, so to speak, and the drone stabilises itself completely by itself after the stunt via the 6-axis gyro system, so you don’t have to learn any special flying skills to perform spectacular somersaults and rolls in the air.
It is also equipped with a state-of-the-art barometer that measures altitude and automatically maintains the drone’s flight level. This guarantees you even more stability during the flight.
Furthermore you can fly the Drocon Ninja FPV in headless mode. This means that the drone flies forward, backward, left and right regardless of the position of its “snout”, depending on the position of your remote control stick or how you tilt your smartphone.
This makes it easier for beginners to get started in flying, because you don’t have to think big when steering. You can start and land the drone with a special start/landing button and you have the possibility to choose between different speed levels.
As mentioned at the beginning of the report, a small 720p camera is installed in the drone. With it you can shoot videos with a frame rate of up to 30 frames per minute. It also has a 120 degree wide angle lens to capture as much of the environment as possible.
The pictures are transferred via Wi-Fi directly to your smartphone after downloading the app and connecting your device to the Drocon Ninja FPV drone. The images and videos transmitted in real time are then stored on the smartphone and can be further managed from there. You can send them to your friends or share them in social media and share your flying skills with other people.
With the drone you can fly up to 80 meters, but unfortunately the signal of the remote control does not reach further. The Wi-Fi transmission only goes up to 50 meters and then unfortunately breaks off! However, the Drocon Ninja is then no longer so well visible anyway, because it is so small. It is designed for shorter distances but with spectacular flight maneuvers.
It has a 450mAh 7.4V battery that lasts for a maximum flight time of 5 to 7 minutes. Unfortunately you have to charge the battery for 60 minutes. So the ratio of flight time to charging time is not very good. However, there is the possibility to change the flight battery easily. Changing the battery is very easy and you can have virtually unlimited fun with several flight batteries without having to charge the small quadrocopter separately! Further batteries cost only a few Euro!
Advantages and disadvantages of the Drocon Ninja FPV drone
Of course, when considering the advantages and disadvantages, the price must be taken into account. We have taken the trouble and once again listed the most important facts for you.
Advantages:
- Features headless mode, altitude barometer & a 6 axis gyroscope – Perfect for beginners
- Very inexpensive with good price/performance ratio
- Wi-Fi 720p camera with live feed directly to your smartphone
- 3D stunts possible at the push of a button
- The battery is exchangeable – theoretically unlimited flying time
- 120 degree wide angle lens
- In gravitational sensor mode, the drone reacts directly to the tilt of the smartphone
- Reliable and yet affordable
Disadvantages:
- A battery lasts only for 5-7 minutes flight time and needs to be charged for 1 hour
- Very small & light drone – extremely susceptible to wind
- Only 80 meters range – Wi-fi only 50 meters
In a rough overview the disadvantages can be explained by the low price, you won’t get a high-tech drone for 50€ but the price/performance ratio is still very good, if you look at the other technical features and advantages.
Scope of delivery – What’s in there anyway?
The scope of delivery is limited, but it contains almost everything you need for flying:
- 1 x Drocon Ninja FPV drone
- 4 x propeller protection
- Replacement propeller
- Remote control with holder for the smartphone
- 1 x battery
- 1 x charger
- 1 x instruction manual
You still need a smartphone to use the drone to its full extent!
