- Starting up the Fatshark Predator V2
The included camera with a 100 degree wide angle lens is quite ingenious. It delivers unique pictures in high quality.
How exactly to install the video glasses is also described in the supplied manual. Just start the FPV goggles, fix the camera to your aircraft and take off. The flying fun is initiated in no time.
The flight behaviour will hardly change, as the camera weighs only 15 g. This will not only provide you with beautiful live pictures, but also the sound from the area of your drone. In our opinion this is very helpful, because technical problems, for example with engines, can be noticed in time.
The Predator V2 is operated wirelessly, we think this is a real luxury. In order that the glasses can be supplied with energy, it has a 1000 mAh battery. For safety reasons, it also has an integrated alarm system which is activated as soon as the battery charge drops below a certain threshold. Thus crashes can be avoided.
Operating the Fatshark Predator V2 FPV goggles
During the flight you can adjust different settings on the Predator V2 video glasses:
- Adjusting volume
- Adjusting brightness and contrast
- Changing channels (a long beep sounds when changing channels)
What should you pay attention to?
Do not fly further than 500 meters away, otherwise the image transmission will be interrupted or broken off.
Clean the lens regularly with a cleaning cloth to prevent the fine dirt from settling. It is very resistant and was developed for outdoor use.
Please do not expose the video glasses to direct sunlight! They will break because of holes burning into the LCF colour filter. This damage is also not covered by the warranty! It will then stick to you!
You can tell whether the glasses are already damaged by white spots on the screen as soon as they are in use.
It’s best to always keep them in the protective case included in the scope of delivery and avoid sitting directly in the sun when flying.
Is the Fatshark Predator V2 also suitable for spectacle wearers?
Yes, she is! Glasses wouldn’t fit in there. But since there are many people wearing glasses, the manufacturer had to come up with something.
For example, you can remove the eye straps and with the help of the device behind the straps, you can insert doptric lenses with the strengths -2, -4 and -6.
Which connectors does the Fatshark Predator V2 have?
If you take a close look at the video glasses, you will find all possible connection possibilities. Here is a small overview:
- Connection for antenna
- AV input/output
- PS/2 port for alternative power supply
- Connector for external receiver or reveiver
What we particularly like is the possibility to connect an external power supply to the PS/2 port. Thus almost unlimited FPV pleasure is guaranteed. Voltage sources between 7 and 25 volts can be connected. At 25 volts the glasses draw about 24 mA and at 7 volts about 85 mA, which corresponds to about 600 mW.
Test conclusion about the Fatshark Predator V2
The Fatshark Predator V2 video goggles are ideal for beginners as well as for advanced pilots. The installation and start-up is very easy. The scope of delivery is a complete set, therefore the Fatshark FPV glasses are a real big seller and so popular with drone pilots.
Meanwhile the Fatshark Predator V2 is offered for 330-350 €. Depending on which dealer you look at.
Especially interesting is the included positioning GPS, which provides extensive telemetry data, such as altitude, position, battery status, etc.
The video quality of the supplied camera is very good. If you still don’t like it, you have the possibility to use a Gopro camera instead of the included one. But make sure that it has an appropriate connection.
Another plus point is the fact that even people who wear glasses can use the FPV glasses.
All in all, the features, characteristics and quality are really outstanding for this price. We can therefore warmly recommend the Fatshark Predator V2 to you.
