With this code you get 90 USD discount on the Fimi X8 SE: “FASTGBFIMIX8” Valid only while stocks last! In the last step of the order process select “Fast-23” as stock and enter the code. The drone is delivered from Czech Republic with a delivery time of 3 to 5 working days!
The quadrocopter is delivered RTF, i.e. Ready To Fly, has medium dimensions, climbs up to a height of about 500 meters and can be controlled reliably.
The model is therefore ideal for beginners, but advanced users will also enjoy the high agility and speed.
In the following we will introduce the drone and some flight modes in more detail:
Further down in the report you will find two more test videos, have fun 🙂
Technical properties
The Fimi X8 SE drone reaches a maximum speed of approximately 65 kilometres per hour. This makes it one of the fastest aircraft models we have looked at so far.
Handling, agility and speed ensure that even very experienced pilots will have a lot of fun with the Fimi X8 SE.
In theory the technical data speak for the model. Among other things, reliable satellite positioning systems like GPS and GLONASS have been installed.
These ensure that the drone remains safe and stable in hovering flight as soon as the pilot releases all control sticks.
Design and appearance
The Fimi X8 SE reminds a bit of the design of the DJI Mavic. The camera and gimbal structure as well as the housing have a certain similarity.
The drone weighs a total of 790 grams and has a diagonal size of 372 millimeters.
Usually the copter is available in white in the shop. In addition, similar to the DJI Mavic models, it can be easily folded up. So it fits easily and comfortably into any backpack and even into large trouser pockets.
Also the remote control gives the impression that the manufacturer has oriented itself a bit to DJI. There is a short antenna on the right and left side.
The big difference to DJI, however, is that the smartphone is placed in the middle of the remote control and not below it.
The radio remote control is also quite simple, with the left joystick you can turn the copter around its own axis and let it climb up and down. With the right joystick you can control the quadrocopter on the plane in all directions
The propellers have an ergonomic shape and can be easily attached. If you want to fold the quadrocopter, you can also fold the propellers to fit.
On top there are several status LEDs and the button to switch the Fimi X8 SE drone on or off.
Image sensor, resolution and memory
Here is a 4K camera with a 1 / 2.3″ CMOS sensor including gimbal system which works via a 3-axis gimbal ring.
A total of 12 megapixels are available to you as maximum effective pixels. The maximum photo resolution is therefore 4000 x 3000 pixels. Videos can be recorded in 4K quality, that is 3840 x 2160 pixels. For this resolution you can set different frame rates. Among others 30, 25 and 24 frames per second.
There is also the possibility to reduce the pixel density in the menu:
- 2560 x 1440 at 60, 50, 30, 25 or 24 fps
- 1080P at 100, 60, 50, 30, 25 or 24 frames per second
- 720P at 200 fps
The maximum bitrate is 100 Mbps.
Pictures are saved in JPG and also DNG. The video format is MP4 as usual. As memory card type you can use a Micro SD which has a storage capacity between 8 and 64 Gbyte. The manufacturer recommends Kingston U3 and Sandisk.
The lens of the 4K camera has a field of view of 78.8 degrees and a focal length of 473 mm. The shutter speed is 8 ~ 1 / 8000S and the possible ISO range for videos is 100 – 3200 and for still images 100 – 1600.
All in all a great camera which was installed here!
Flight stabilization
Among other things, the precise visual positioning system, which also ensures high flight stability, is ingenious. Normally we are only used to such systems from DJI drones, the market leader in the quadrocopter industry. Normally these models cost 4 digits, but here you get the visual positioning system much cheaper.
As already mentioned, GPS and GLONASS are also integrated. These are 2 additional positioning systems which work via 2 satellites and keep the model even more exact in the air.
All in all, the Fimi X8 SE is thus ideally suited for beginners. However, very inexperienced pilots should slowly get used to the flight characteristics outdoors, as the drone can reach very high speeds and is quite agile.
Flight Modes
There are numerous flight modes. Among other things, a visual tracking system allows the pilot to precisely fix and track an object.
Additionally there is the usual Follow Me mode where the drone follows the pilot.
Beginners can easily get used to flying in headless mode. This feature ensures that the quadrocopter moves regardless of the orientation of the head. For example, if you move the right-hand control stick forward, the drone will fly away from you, regardless of whether it is facing you sideways or frontally.
In this video we will introduce the flight modes orbit, course lock and spiral:
Battery, flight time and range
A real plus point is the unbelievably long flight time. The Fimi X8 SE Quadrocopter owes this to its 4500 mAh lipo-battery. Thanks to its 11.4 Volt voltage, this battery provides sufficient power to supply the 4 drives and the sensor system of the model with electricity. At the same time, the charging capacity is so large that you can stay in the air with the drone for up to 33 minutes at a stretch! This is pretty blatant, not even most DJI models can do this.
However, the drone can only achieve more than half an hour of flight time if there is no wind and if it does not constantly accelerate 100%.
The transmitter has a range of up to 5 kilometers. But in Germany there are certain laws and you should obey them. We recommend that you fly at maximum visibility and 100 meters high, otherwise you could get into trouble. You will also need a drone license plate with your name and address. Additionally we advise you to take out a liability insurance for quadrocopter models.
For which applications is the Fimi X8 SE drone suitable?
In our opinion, the Fimi X8 SE is an all-round talent. It is suitable for many missions. Both advanced and beginners will have fun and the recording quality of the camera is quite good.
For example, it is perfect on holiday, when hiking in the mountains or simply for taking pictures and filming your property from a bird’s eye view.

- Incredibly high video quality with 4K resolution at 30 frames per second
- Precise visual positioning system with GPS and GLONASS
Cons:
- No “brand model”
Conclusion
You can say what you want, this drone is simply super, even if the manufacturer is not as well known as DJI, Hubsan or Parrot, so he has brought a quadrocopter on the market which has it really in itself, has many functions and is also enormously inexpensive.
The price/performance ratio is unbelievably good and that is exactly why the drone is well suited for beginners, because the budget is low and the safety standard is particularly high.
We were quite surprised about the long flight time. The Fimi X8 SE actually manages to stay in the air for about 32 minutes. If very strong gusts of wind come up, the copter can’t fly that long, but it still manages to fly for about half an hour on average. And that is an enormous achievement for this price.
