On the US market the Halo Drone Pro is quite well known. Also in Germany more and more copter pilots are interested in this model.
The camera drone has a photo sensor that can record up to 4K videos at a frame rate of maximum 30 fps. The recordings make a very good impression. Many videographers are enthusiastic, the quality could be compared to DJI.
Especially if you love fast remote controlled copters, the Halo Drone Pro is perfect for you, it can do up to 80 kilometers per hour!
But what is the catch? Is there one at all? We give you a short insight into what to expect and clarify the most important questions in this article.
Technical data and design
Overall, the design is very attractive and makes a high-quality impression. It is a foldable drone, which was manufactured from very stable materials.
Here and there orange accents pierce through the metallic grey. So the quadrocopter does not look too boring or too colourful.
In the diagonal, the Halo drone measures about 43 cm, which is already above average compared to models that we usually test. The weight is about 1.4 kg. The powerful motors do not make the aircraft too slow. Due to the weight and the powerful drive, the quadrocopter can also withstand strong gusts of wind.
The flight time with a fully charged flight battery is about 22 minutes. Compared to the DJI Mavic Pro 2 this is a little bit less, but the drive system of the Halo Pro also consumes much more power, because more electrical power is provided.
6000 mAh is already a house number, this energy has to go somewhere, so you can imagine that a real powerhouse is waiting for you with an unbelievable high acceleration and remarkable max speed (80 km/h).
Of course an FPV image is transmitted, the maximum video range is about 800 meters, until then you will have a low latency of less than 200 ms.
The controller itself has a transmission range of up to about 1000 meters, but then you probably won’t have an FPV live image without high delay. You should be aware that in Germany certain laws apply and therefore the drone may only be flown at visual range.
The built-in photo sensor is the Sony IMX 377, which has a maximum photo resolution of 12 megapixels and a distortion correction.
The following resolutions are available for video recording:
- 3840×2160 (4K) at 30 fps
- 2560×1440 (1440p) 60 fps
- 1920×1080 (Full HD) 120 fps
- 1280×720 (HD) 240 fps
Suitable for beginners?
Although the values are quite remarkable and the performance of the quadrocopter makes you doubt if beginners should dare to fly it, the system is easy to fly. An extensive sensor system ensures a stable flight.
Among other things, GPS and a gyro system, as well as an altitude barometer are integrated, so the Halo Pro drone stands like nailed in the air as soon as you release the control stick.
Very mature are the Follow-Me mode and the Return To Home mode. In addition, the Halo Pro can be launched and landed at the touch of a button, all fully automatic, similar to what you are used to from other DJI or Parrot drones.
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages:
- 4K Action Camera
- Video recording with 4K resolution at 30 frames per second
- Precise GPS tracking
- Sophisticated gyrosystem and altitude barometer
- Perfect for beginners and advanced drone pilots
- Many different flight modes
- State-of-the-art 3 axis gimbal system with up to 2000 position corrections per second
- This is a foldable drone similar to the Mavic Pro
- Enormous top speed up to 80 kilometers per hour
Cons:
- price-intensive
Conclusion
This drone is really easy to control and fly, so it is quite suitable to get first experiences with quadrocopters.
But also the advanced pilot will have fun with this aircraft, because the recording quality of the camera and the different flight modes leave a lot of room for manoeuvre.
In terms of quality, the Halo Pro comes close to DJI, which is why we can give a clear recommendation to buy this model.
