The Hotbird Follow Me drone is perfect for selfies, besides it can be folded and is therefore quite compact.
Beginners will have an easy time with this model, because the handling is very easy. Additionally there is a safe rotor protection and a case is included in the delivery.
Compared to other remote controlled aircraft in this price range, the Hotbird Follow Me drone has quite a lot to offer. In this report we will tell you the most important facts and figures about the Hotbird drone.
Technical data
The price/performance ratio, the corresponding resolution and the ability of the drone to automatically stay in the air are very good. What bothers us a bit is the short flight time which is somewhere between 5 and 8 minutes, depending on the flight style. However, the manufacturer states 10 to 12 minutes.
Even in light wind the model can hold up without problems and beginners can get used to the characteristics of the quadrocopter model bit by bit.

Even 4 rotor protection units are included. You can easily mount them. In our opinion such a protection is especially important if you want to fly with the drone in your own 4 walls.
Design
At the moment you can only get this drone in the colour “black”. The contours are very fine, slightly curved and round off the whole package finely.
In the front is the small camera, which cannot be changed in its position via remote control.
Below each propeller is a LED unit. At the front in pairs in the colour “white” and at the rear in “red”. This allows the drone pilot to assess the current position of the quadrocopter model even in a darker area.
The foldable design of the quadrocopter is also very advantageous. But here you should make sure that the propellers are also folded correctly, do not stand away and break off.
Camera
The built-in camera has several lenses to provide an optically clean image. The FPV image can be transferred via Wifi in real time to your smartphone. You just have to download the corresponding app.
With 2 megapixels and 720P, you’ll be able to take great photos and videos. But you have to admit that there are also cameras with better resolution values in this price range.
It also has a dual-camera switch and an Auto Follo Me mode, in which the camera or drone follows you wherever you go.
Battery, range and flight time
According to the manufacturer the 3.7 Volt strong 1100 mAh Lipo battery is sufficient for 10-12 minutes flying time. Experience shows, however, that in normal or fast flight you can expect much shorter flight times. Therefore it is recommended to use a few additional batteries. The charging time is about 120 minutes per battery.
The 4 channel transmitter can reach the drone over a distance of about 100 meters. This distance is already quite large for the small model and you will find it difficult to recognize the aircraft. In our opinion 100 meters range is therefore perfectly legitimate and sufficient. You also have to consider that in Germany there are certain laws that allow you to fly such models only within visual range.
Flight feeling
Due to the optical positioning system and the automatic altitude hold mode via barometer, a safe and stable flight attitude is always guaranteed.

Conclusion
We especially liked the gesture control, but this only refers to taking photos and not to the operation of the drone itself.
You can also move the camera in its vertical position by hand to get an optimal angle of view. Despite the fact that the cam is so small, it has a wide angle of 120 degrees. In a particularly dark area or in very cloudy weather, the picture is a little too dark for our taste, which is certainly due to the small photo sensor.
The image and video recordings can be transferred directly to your smartphone or sent directly to an FPV camera.
All in all this drone offers quite a lot for the low price. With its special features it also stands out from other models currently on the market.
