The JXD 509 G Pioneer UFO drone Mini Typhoon is a mini drone with a 2 megapixel camera and FPV image transmission.
Included is a remote control with 5.8 Ghz FPV receiver where the image data is received and displayed directly on the FPV monitor in real-time.
Technical Details
You must not forget that this quadrocopter is rather a fun model, serious video recordings or photos with very high quality are not to be expected here. Hobby photographers and video freaks with high demands will therefore be rather disappointed.
In this report we will introduce you to the most important technical details, functions and modes that the JXD 509 G Pioneer drone has to offer.
Camera
Although this is a 720P camera with 2 megapixels, the quality of the photo and video recordings is rather average. A beginner will probably have no problems with this.
But someone who has flown other drone models and is used to good quality will probably not be happy with the JXD 509G drone.
Recorded pictures look a bit pale and videos are blurred because there is no gimbal system to stabilize the recordings.
However, the price must always be taken into account. For the money you have to spend on the JXD 509G, you can also get drones that are much worse and don’t have a camera.
Design
The workmanship is good, but you shouldn’t expect miracles for this price. What we like is that the rotors are protected. The rotor protection can also be removed.
The model has a diameter of 13 cm and reminds strongly of the Yuneec Typhoon, just as a mini variant. The struts are arranged in the same way as on the large Typhoon drone.
Transmitter and range
The maximum flight time is about 10 minutes, which is pretty much average in this price segment. Images are transmitted at a frequency of 5.8 Ghz, but the actual transmission frequency of the remote control is 2.4 Ghz.
Unfortunately, the value of flight time refers especially to fully charged batteries without using the camera. If the camera is used, you only have 5 minutes, after that the battery is unfortunately already empty!
Flight quality
Beginners can practice quite well with this model. The drone stabilizes fully automatically in flight and can be controlled quite well.
There are different speed levels and so a beginner can slowly approach the control of daring flight manoeuvres. Compared to other models, the drone reacts quite gently to movements in the lower speed levels.
Assets and drawbacks
Advantages:
- Interesting drone for beginners who want to practice a bit more
- Reasonable price – you don’t need a lot of budget to start flying this model
- Has a camera with FPV video function – the live image is transmitted without very long delays
Cons:
- Only suitable for beginners – advanced users will be bored with this model
Conclusion
We have already tested better models. Unfortunately, the camera in particular is not of very high quality and does not make very good video recordings.
But for the fun in between it is definitely worth the money and that’s why we recommend it to you.
