The model Medion Life S47108 is a digital action camcorder with a waterproof additional housing.
You can control the camera with a remote control and with the help of the accessories (adapters with joints, straps and adhesive brackets) you can mount it in many ways.
Technical properties
The price/performance ratio of the camera is simply super, but compared to a GoPro it is not only much cheaper but unfortunately also qualitatively not comparable with the market leader.
But for beginners the model is absolutely super suitable. There are almost no negative characteristics, the handling is great, the cam records in the highest resolution with a very good video quality and the accessories are very extensive.
The photo sensor shows its full potential especially in good light conditions, then the pictures will be razor sharp with high color depth and a clear view. However, in very dark corners, late twilight or other poor lighting conditions, the camera sensor reaches its limits.
If you use the cam for several hours at a time, the camera can get quite warm. However, we do not recommend to expose the Medion Life S47018 to direct sunlight all the time if the temperature rises particularly high in summer.
Design and appearance
The design is not typically comparable to competing models, but has something very special about it. For example, the model’s photo sensor is located exactly in the middle. The corners and edges are also quite rounded and overall, the Medion Life S47018 looks completely different from the action cameras we usually test.
The Cam is compact, light and handy. Its weight is only about 80 grams and its dimensions are 43 x 59 x 43 mm.
Above it there is a small display with battery status and various other status messages.
The additional waterproof housing is mostly made of transparent plastic. The underwater housing of action cameras often looks a bit cheap, but the Medion Life S47018 comes across as a bit more valuable. The camera can be easily inserted into the housing and you can then use it to dive to a depth of 60 meters.
Image sensor, resolution and memory
We were a little surprised when we read the data of the resolutions and the CMOS sensor, they seem a little too low, but photo and video recordings are still quite high quality.
The Medion Life S47018 action camera is equipped with a 5.0 megapixel CMOS sensor, with which you can create video recordings up to 1920 x 1080 pixels at a frequency of 30 frames per second. Still images have 2592 x 1944 pixels in camera mode.
In video mode you can set the following resolution values:
- 1920 x 1080 pixels (30 fps)
- 1280 x 960 pixels (30 fps)
- 1280 x 720 pixels (60 fps)
As storage medium you need a MicroSD card with up to 32 GByte memory. We recommend to format the memory card completely before use.
In the scope of supply there is already a memory card with a total of 4 Gbyte memory, but this is a little bit less, we recommend you to buy a bigger one.
Menu navigation and control via smartphone
Each menu item can be reached quickly and clearly. For this purpose it is divided into main menu items and submenus.
You also have the possibility to control the camera with a smartphone, for this the model has a Wifi function. Just download the required app in the Appstore and connect it to the action camera.
A smartphone or tablet must have WLAN with 802.11 b/g/n and Android a platform with 2.3 or higher.
Apple devices can be used with the Medion Life S47018 action camera from iOS version 6.0 or higher.
For which applications is the camera suitable?
The Medion Life S47018 action camera is very well suited for cycling, motorcycling, as a dashcam and especially for diving and snorkeling.
The camera has a lithium-ion battery that lasts for several hours unless you are filming continuously in the highest resolution.

Sure, you won’t get a GoPro-Cam here, so of course you have to make some concessions. The expectations should not be set too high, because the best are still the GoPro 5, 6 and 7, but they cost a multiple of the Medion Life S47018 action camera.
