Technical data and facts
The quadrocopter is driven by 4 high quality brushless motors, which work very quietly and still reach high speeds.
This is the engine model MT 1806 1800KV. This motor has a metal shell, is perfectly cooled by the air vents and has an advanced electromagnetic construction which allows the motor to build up high speeds.
Also the special design of the propellers, allows a fairly strong power output due to the excellent aerodynamics. In addition, the propeller design guarantees the most stable flight attitude possible.
With the MJX Unique Motor Braking System, each individual motor is individually controlled. If a collision occurs, the system reacts and stops the drives to prevent damage to the motor.
There is also a mechanical gimbal, here you can adjust the camera in its vertical position via remote control.
In our opinion, the MJX Bugs 5 drone is perfectly suited for beginners, as it has some additional stabilizing systems. Among other things, the advanced GPS system intervenes to keep the quadrocopter in a stable flight attitude. The flight model constantly receives a signal from the satellite to balance its position.

Camera
We like the camera of the MJX Bugs 5 drone pretty much. If you consider that other drones in this price segment sometimes don’t even have a photo sensor, then the 8 megapixels provided by the CMOS sensor are in a pretty good light.
You have the possibility to create videos in RAW format with a resolution of 1080P at 30 frames per second. The cam can be adjusted in its vertical position from +45 to -45 degrees via remote control and mechanical gimbal.
The video image can also be transmitted in real time to your smartphone via the FPV Wifi signal. You can easily mount the device above the remote control in the cradle.
Both the resolution and the colour depth show that this camera drone is worthwhile. However, professionals are usually used to an even better image quality and should therefore use more expensive equipment, such as the DJI Mavic Pro.
Design
Sleek, aggressive and yet simple. These are the 3 most striking features of the design. There is really not much to say about this, actually the drone looks like a usual quadrocopter model, but unfortunately the propeller arms cannot be folded.
Below in the front area is the gimbal with the camera. Below the engines are the feet and the model is available in “black”.
The drone also has a few front headlights in the front area. Below the arms there are also some lights which illuminate the ground. This makes the quadrocopter ideal for flying at night or at dusk.
Flight Modes
When you buy the MJX Bugs 5 drone, you can rely on many different flight modes while recording your videos. These include the Point of Interest and Track Flight Mode, for example, which make your recordings look even more professional.
Of course you can also use the Follow Me mode. Here the drone follows you at every turn. The system works in such a way that the quadrocopter system is oriented to the signal of your smartphone and aligns itself accordingly. The drone keeps a constant distance and adjusts its speed accordingly.
At the Point of Interest, the drone orbits a point of your choice. You can adjust the radius in the app’s menu.
With the help of the application, which you have to install on your smartphone, you also have the possibility to use many more functions, modes and features.
Battery, range and flight time
A 7.4 Volt strong 1800 mAh Lipo battery is used for this model aircraft. Depending on the charge level, you can fly for different lengths of time. We recommend that you only use a fully charged flight battery to avoid unnecessary wear and tear of the battery.
When fully charged, the maximum flight time is about 15 to 18 minutes. Your flying style is also decisive here. For example, if you always accelerate and brake hard, the battery will not last that long.
If the battery is running low, the battery symbol will start flashing slowly in red. As soon as a beep signal is heard, the quadrocopter will automatically start to fly back to you if the distance is more than 300 meters.
The maximum possible range is 300-500 meters, but the FPV signal does not quite reach that far and will somehow break off in the range between 200 and 300 meters.

Flight behaviour
The MJX Bugs 5 drone has numerous support systems that work automatically in the background to balance the model in the air.
Among other things, an altitude barometer is responsible for keeping the quadrocopter stable at its flying altitude. Furthermore, there is a gyroscope that works on 6 axes and thanks to which it will be much easier for you to control the model safely, stably and easily.
With the remote control you can steer the drone in all usual directions. A 4-channel transmitter is used here.
A great feature of the quadrocopter is the 360 degree flip function, which you can trigger at the push of a button.
