An interesting and inexpensive quadrocopter we took a closer look at is the S-SERIE S20W double GPS with 6-axis gyroscope and an adjustable camera via remote control.
This drone costs just around 65 € and offers everything a beginner needs to get into drone flying and gain experience.
Technical data
In the shop you can buy the drone with different features, it is available in black, with different battery sets and 2 camera sets.
The drone is operated by a 4-channel remote control and the cool thing about the camera is that you can adjust its angle using the remote control, in the range of about 75 degrees.
There is also a smartphone app for the model, in which you can draw a flight path with your finger, for example, which the drone then flies off.
Once you have lost your orientation, you can either switch on the headless mode or use the automatic return function.
The drone goes into fully automatic home-to-return mode even if the battery capacity drops below 5%. Should this happen, the quadrocopter will turn around and fly back to you.
Design
The design reminds us a lot of the drones of the DJI Phantom series, which we have also tested extensively.
As already mentioned, you can choose between the colours black and white in the shop, whereas the darker version is more like anthracite.
Unfortunately, the arms and propellers cannot be folded, but you can simply unscrew the propellers. Between the two landing coves is the moving camera with a 120 degree wide angle lens.
The LED signal lights complete the complete design and make sure that you can see and control the quadrocopter even at night.
Camera
When buying the drone in the shop you have to decide between the model with the 2.0 megapixel and the 5.0 megapixel camera. So either 720P or 1080P. So the resolution format is 1280×720 or 1920×1080 pixels.
With the cam you can film at a maximum of 25 frames per second when recording video. The remote control allows you to adjust it at an angle of 75 degrees up or down. This function is quite rare on drone models but we think it’s great!
Other features and modes
You can control the drone just like any other quadrocopter up, down, forward, backward, left and right, and sideways on the plane.
In addition, there are 3 different speed levels available, the automatic return function, the altitude hold mode, WiFi FPV and the dynamic tracking mode.
For quick selection of modes and settings you have a few buttons in the middle of the remote control. On top is the holder for the smartphone.
Battery, range and flight time
Built in is a 3.7 V strong 1000mAh Lipo battery. The maximum flight time is about 8 minutes and the charging time about 60 minutes. In addition, the transmission range is about 500 meters, whereby the Wifi image is only transmitted up to a distance of 400 meters.
