The shots of the Veho Muvi KX-2 Pro Action camera are damn good, but it is also a bit expensive. You could also get a GoPro Cam for similar prices. So is it even worth the purchase? These and many more questions will be answered in today’s report.
Technical properties
If you only look at the external aspects of the camera, the design is quite interesting. At the front, there is the camera and the on/off switch, as well as the company logo “muvi”.
Above and on the right side there are a few buttons for operating the camera. On the left is the Micro SD card slot. On the back side there is a 1.8 inch LCD touchscreen for operating and viewing the images.
The camera is also supplied with a housing that can withstand the penetration of water to a depth of about 40 meters. The cam is therefore ideal for divers, snorkelers and other water sports enthusiasts.
Image sensor, resolution and memory
The Veho Muvi KX-2 Pro Action camera has a 12 megapixel photo sensor, which doesn’t sound like much at first, but this resolution is completely sufficient, you can take beautiful photos and videos with a high depth of field and a wide color spectrum.
Furthermore, the cam has the Ambarella A12 chipset, which is supposed to be better than the GoPro A9 chipset according to some statements on other websites.
You can also choose in the menu whether you want to create photos with 12 MP or 8 MP.
The lens of the cam has an angle of 140 degrees to capture as much of the image area as possible. A larger lens also has the advantage that more light sources are captured and therefore the view in darker areas is much better than with lenses with a 90 degree angle.
As for the video resolution, it is 4K and can be used up to a maximum frame rate of 30 frames per second. Alternatively you can also set 1080P resolution at 100 fps.
The set also includes a Micro SD card with a memory capacity of 16 Gbyte. We recommend that you format the memory card before using it for the first time.
Menu navigation and recording modes
The menu navigation is very simple, all menu items are quickly accessible and you can make various functions and settings. These include, for example, the resolution formats, various photo modes and video settings.
To be able to take more flexible pictures, modes like burst, self-timer, interval photos and tap shutter are available.
You can also use a 4x digital zoom, video loop and auto record. For the Auto Record function, the Veho Muvi KX-2 Pro Action camera has an extra G-sensor, which starts filming at the slightest movement.
The cam has the property to change the image display by 180 degrees as soon as the camera is rotated.
Coupling with the smartphone and other devices
You have the possibility to connect the camera via WLAN. For this you have a WLAN signal with a high range. You can keep the connection up to a distance of 60 meters.
All you have to do is download the appropriate app. This is the Muvi app, it is available for free in the Appstore and can be installed on both Android and iOS devices.
With the help of the application it is also possible to stream videos to the end device (smartphone or tablet) and share them directly via email, Twitter or other social platforms such as YouTube, Facebook or Skype.
Battery and runtime
The set contains a 1050 mAh strong battery, which lasts up to 3 hours. However, it is noticeable that the runtime depends strongly on the way of use.
For example, if you want to shoot continuously at 4K resolution and 30 fps, the battery will only last 60-90 minutes, but if you take photos or shoot at a lower resolution, the battery life is much longer.

Of course the Veho Muvi KX-2 Pro Action camera costs a lot of money, but it’s worth the purchase if you really want quality.
