The Yuneec Breeze is definitely a compact action drone that is a lot of fun. While it’s not comparable to DJI drones like the DJI Phantom 3 Professional, it’s ideal for short snapshots and video recording, for example when on holiday at the beach.
With the help of a handful of interesting flight modes, the Breeze 4K does its job as a selfie drone.
You can get it for considerably less than 500 €, so we absolutely wanted to have a closer look at it. The compact form allows the Yuneec Breeze to be quickly and easily stored in a backpack and taken anywhere.
The Yuneec Breeze 4K drone has an Ultra HD resolution and takes excellent photos. There aren’t many drones in this price range with such a good camera, numerous flight modes and excellent, stable flight characteristics.
The small quadrocopter can be easily controlled via smartphone and an app. So you don’t have to carry around a heavy remote control!
Due to its numerous features, this flying drone has to prove itself against all more expensive models. For example, not all flight modes can compete with the quality of many more expensive DJI models, but that goes without saying.
We find the possibility to fly this drone with FPV glasses quite exciting. This gives a much more realistic flight experience. But before we go into more detail, here is an overview of the most important technical details.
Yuneec Breeze Technical Data
The compact quadrocopter has a 13 megapixel camera, which produces video recordings with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and photos with 4160 x 3120 pixels. The camera can be tilted vertically and has a high class Ambarella chipset.
This chipset ensures a stable image. Since the drone has no mechanical gimbal, the image is electronically stabilized live. Thus the software gimbal provides smooth & quiet video recordings by balancing the finest image movements due to flight maneuvers or gusts of wind.
A 720p live image is transmitted to your smartphone during the flight. The control via app is quite simple, self-explanatory and compatible with common Android and IOS operating systems.
At 720p the FPS rate is 60 frames per second. So you have the possibility to generate beautiful slow motion pictures.
Thanks to integrated GPS and IPS sensors, the drone is very stable in the air and automatically balances even the smallest deviations in flight attitude by itself. This makes the Yuneec Breeze ideal for beginners and drone novices.
The app can also be used to activate and control the various practical flight modes. They will help you to create even better & higher quality video recordings.

The USB cable is for transferring videos & pictures to your PC. What we really appreciate is the rotor protection (bumper), which makes flying the Yuneec Breeze even safer & more comfortable. Especially as a drone beginner it is often not so easy to keep the drone in your own 4 walls without where to fly against it in the air.
But the bumpers and the solid construction make this drone quite forgiving, even if it crashes a few times.
Test overview, advantages and disadvantages
Elegant flight characteristics, a high-quality camera and the compact design look particularly attractive in combination with the low price. But whether the drone is suitable for your application, you have to weigh up carefully, so first of all the advantages and disadvantages to get a rough overview.
Advantages
- Reasonable price for a lot of quality and numerous functions. The quadrocopter Yuneec Breeze is already available for less than 500 €, but has many features, which are almost only available for much more expensive drones. A real bargain!
- High photo and video quality. Recorded photos have high quality, resolution and colour depth.
- Compact size. Since the quadrocopter is relatively small and has a diameter of just 24 cm, it fits into any backpack.
- Extensive flight and camera modes. With the flight modes you can create even smoother and better aerial shots.
Disadvantages
- No remote control included in the normal set. The drone is controlled via smartphone using touch fields of the app. We think this reduces the flight feeling a bit. We recommend you to buy the FPV set, because besides FPV goggles, a solid remote control is also included.
Yuneec Breeze steering & flight characteristics
In our opinion, the Yuneec Breeze is ideal for beginners. You can do almost nothing wrong.
The quadrocopter can be easily and comfortably controlled with the help of the touch field. The left touch field is used to move the drone up and down and to move its own vertical axis.
If you operate the right touch field, the quadrocopter moves easily forward, backward, right or left. If you lose contact with the Touch Screen, the Yuneec Breeze will slow down automatically.
Should you also lose the signal, it will automatically fly back to the original starting point.
What bothers us a bit is the fact that this drone only reaches a maximum speed of about 18 kilometers per hour. For beginners, however, this is a reasonable speed!
Yuneec Breeze 4K drone with FPV glasses
The Yuneec Breeze can be flown with FPV glasses. This allows you to enter live into the flying action from the camera view of the drone.
The FPV set includes a controller and FPV glasses. You just have to start the app, connect it to the controller and insert the smartphone into the slot provided in the glasses.
Alternatively, you can also attach the smartphone to the remote control using the supplied holder and enjoy the FPV pleasure even without FPV glasses.
Security is a top priority
Despite the low price, Yuneec has made no savings on safety with this drone. As already mentioned, the drone stands like nailed to the ground and can be flown very safely indoors. Among other things, an indoor positioning system consisting of ultrasonic sensors ensures this.
Without having to operate the control stick, the drone maintains its current altitude and position completely automatically. After strong acceleration manoeuvres, the Yuneec Breeze decelerates again completely automatically. The same applies if the connection to the smartphone or remote control is lost.
The app warns the drone pilot if the battery level becomes too low. If the battery charge is less than 5%, the drone lands automatically to avoid the risk of a crash.
Flight modes of the Yuneec Breeze
Not only does the Yuneec Breeze create breathtaking Ultra-HD video recordings. It also offers you extensive flight modes, which you can set and activate via the app.
In the following we show you the 5 most important flight modes.
Selfie Mode
If you’re in selfie mode, you can take a picture of you and your loved ones quickly and easily. Just adjust a few small settings in the app like altitude and distance and take the photo.
Orbit Mode
In orbit mode the drone circles around you or a desired object. All you have to do is set the radius and the corresponding height and you can start. Even experienced drone pilots can’t fly such an exact circle as the drone flies in orbit mode.
Follow Me Mode
In Follow Me mode the Yuneec Breeze followed you in the given distance. The drone will follow the position of your smartphone, which you have in your hand. With the Follow Me function you can take ingenious pictures of you during various leisure activities.
Journey flight mode
In Journey Mode, the drone flies away from you while always keeping you in sight and then back again. It is questionable how useful this flight mode will be, because you can also simply perform this flight manoeuvre yourself.
Pilot flight mode
The Pilot Mode is the normal flight mode where the Yuneec Breeze is completely controlled by the pilot.
You can either control it with your smartphone and the joysticks that can be seen on the screen or with the remote control included in the FPV set (not included in the common set).
Conclusion on the Yuneec Breeze 4K drone
The small Selfie drone is extremely fast ready for action. Only a few seconds, the quadrocopter is ready to start and you can take a spontaneous photo of you and your friends.
What we criticize is the fact that this aircraft only has an internal 16 Gbyte memory and no SD card slot was built in to expand the memory. The video and photo recordings can only be transferred to the PC via a USB cable. Due to its small size the internal memory must be emptied regularly.
Otherwise almost nothing disturbs us on the Yuneec Breeze, it could perhaps fly a little faster. It is also only available in white, but if you like more colour you can stick it on.
Here you get a really valuable, powerful quadrocopter for comparatively little money. Meanwhile the Yuneec Breeze costs only about 430 €. For this you get a lot of technology, security measures, can produce high-quality pictures and have a lot of fun.
