If motion detection is activated, the car camera will immediately start recording as soon as something moves in front of the lens.
In addition, a G-sensor is integrated, which always intervenes when the vehicle makes an unexpected movement, such as a hard braking maneuver or sharp turn. In these cases a recording is started. The G-sensor is the trigger module for this.
Of course there is also an integrated microphone, but this can also be switched off easily.
Thanks to GPS your position is always tracked. The evaluation for this can be done with Google Maps.

Design
The design is quite comfortable. On the right side there are several buttons to operate the Z-Edge GPS Dash Cam. In the middle is the display with a size of 2.7 inch.
In the front sits the camera, which always captures what’s happening on the road. You can see the corresponding picture in real time on the LCD screen.
You can attach the car camera to the inside of your windshield with the suction cup holder. On the right side above the mount there is a USB port.
We especially liked the rounded design of the Z-Edge GPS car camera. It makes the cam look more modern!
The rear camera is slightly smaller and also has a USB port.
Camera
Thanks to the high quality front camera, you can rely on particularly high-quality and crystal clear images in WQHD. The pixel size here is 2560 x 1440 pixels and the frame rate is about 30 frames per second.
It also has a 150 degree wide angle lens. Due to the large recording area, dead angles of view are minimized!
If both cameras are connected, i.e. the front and the rear camera, the images will be generated with a resolution of Full HD 1080P.
Many car cameras have integrated WDR technology for better night-time recording quality. The Z-Edge GPS Dash Cam also has this feature. The recordings which you make at night, can be seen in any case and are not too dark.
You have to mount the rear camera to the rear window with an adhesive mount, the front cam can be easily attached with a suction cup.
To save the pictures you need a MicroSD card. You can use such a card from class 10 with up to 128 GB.
Battery and power supply
The scope of delivery includes a lithium battery as energy source with a capacity of about 1.18 watt hours and 320 mAh.
However, the battery is rather intended for emergency use. Normally you should use the car charger cable to power the camera.

All in all, the Z-Edge GPS Dash Cam is very solid and in our opinion, the price is absolutely justified. You get a dual camera system for recording the front and rear of the car, and a number of important functions such as the G-sensor, motion detection and parking monitoring are also integrated.
The 150 degree wide angle lens is also great, although a larger recording angle is always better with Dash Cams to have an even smaller blind spot.
