One of the cheapest mini drones we have ever looked at is the Helifar H802.
Beginners will have fun with the quadrocopter, because it has extensive safety features and can perform various stunts at the push of a button.
Some of you will probably think that for 20-30 € there is only scrap on the drone market, but that’s exactly why the manufacturer offers a one year warranty. So you can’t lose much!
Technical data
Actually we thought that with such a low price you shouldn’t expect too much, but the Helifar H802 has quite good technical data and can be flown very reliably.
Size, weight and design
The design makes a rather angular impression and is available in the colours orange/black. Because the drone is often bought for children, there is a protective ring on each propeller. This makes crashes or collisions with objects no problem. The rotor blades cannot be damaged.
The dimensions are 9.3 cm x 8 cm x 3 cm and the weight is 40.8 g. Thus the mini drone fits comfortably into any trouser pocket.
In order to be able to fly in twilight or darkness, a small LED light is attached to the front.
All in all the design seems very robust and as we are used to from the mini quadrocopters, the model remains intact despite collisions with objects, similar to the Parrot Mambo or Parrot Airborne drone.
Camera, memory and FPV live image transmission
For a 20-30 € drone you cannot expect a camera with FPV live image transmission. The model serves primarily as a gadget quadrocopter and for beginners to be able to collect the first flight experiences.
Battery, range and flight time
A flight battery with a total charging capacity of 330 mAh is installed. This operates at an operating voltage of 3.7 volts.
Unfortunately the flight time is 7 minutes maximum, if you accelerate properly the battery will only last 4-5 minutes.
So the maximum flying time clearly depends on your flying style.
Because the battery is so small, it can be fully charged within 45 to 50 minutes. Fortunately it is exchangeable and you can choose in the scope of delivery whether you want to order the drone with one or with 2 batteries.
Additional flight batteries are also not really expensive, so you can extend the flight time as you like.
For the remote control there are no batteries in the scope of delivery, you need 3 x AAA batteries for it.
The transmitter has a maximum range of 30 to 80 meters. We have also found that this depends on many different factors and can therefore only be stated very imprecisely. For example, if the batteries are almost empty and there are objects between the transmitter and the drone, the maximum range will be much less than 80 meters.
Flight stabilization
For the flight stabilization a gyroscope system is used. The drone can perform 360 degree stunts at the push of a button, there are buttons on the remote control.
After a 3D-flip the mini drone goes back to the automatic hovering state and holds it.
Another cool feature is the automatic take-off and landing system. This makes landing and taking off child’s play
To get used to flying a quadrocopter slowly, the pilot has 3 speed levels at his disposal.
Assets and drawbacks
Advantages:
- Very beginner-friendly and also suitable for children
- 3-D stunts at the touch of a button
- High range up to 80 meters
- 2 batteries included in delivery
- Short charging time (45 to 50 minutes)
- Very robust – survives the odd crash
Cons:
- Short flight time (5-7 minutes) per battery charge
- Can no longer be controlled in windy conditions
Scope of delivery (package 2)
Contained:
- 1x Mini Quadrocopter
- 1x remote control
- 4x propeller
- 1x USB charging cable
- 1x instruction manual
- 2x battery for the drone
Is still needed:
- 3 x AAA batteries for remote control
Conclusion
The Helifar Mini-drone may not be the taste of everyone, but the price/performance ratio is extremely good and those who are looking for an inexpensive entry-level drone should strike.
