If you are looking for a good action camera for little money, then the NexGadget camera is the best choice.
This model can be connected to your smartphone via Wifi. There is an intelligent app for this purpose, which you can download for free. You can use your smartphone to remote control your camera or to receive the live image.
A lot of parts are included in the delivery, including a versatile mounting accessory set.
It also comes with a waterproof and transparent protective cover, which allows you to dive up to 30 meters without water ingress. Noise and sound breaks are prevented by the built-in microphone.
Technical data and facts about the camera
Despite the fact that the Action Cam has a very low price, there are many different shooting modes. For example, you can choose between fast motion, slow motion, auto mode and cyclic recording. If you’re shooting in auto mode, you can also use it as a simple dash cam, but you’ll be in a legal grey area!
If you have never used an action camera or set it in operation before, you don’t need to worry. Starting up the NexGadget action camera is quite easy. In addition, the action camera also offers a Wifi interface, thanks to which you can easily set up the cam.
Also the insertion of the battery is very easy and can be done quite uncomplicated. Before using it for the first time, you should fully charge the battery.
The design
Unfortunately there are no strong distinguishing features compared to other action camera models. The design looks very high quality, but at first glance the NexGadget looks very similar to many other action cameras.
The dimensions are quite compact. The camera is about 5.9 centimeters wide and measures about 4 cm in height. On the back is the screen, which measures 2 inches and is large enough to display the image properly.
On the bottom is the battery compartment, above right is the confirmation button and left of the camera is the on/off button.
A small mini HDMI and USB port is also available on the side.
Camera
The photo sensor has a resolution of 16 megapixels, which is the maximum number of pixels you can take with the cam.
With the camera you can also create videos up to a resolution of 4K. It has a 170 degree wide angle lens and you have the possibility to select different resolution formats in the menu.
For the video resolution you can choose between the following formats:
- 4K at 30 frames per second
- 2.7K at 30 fps
- 1080P at 60 fps
The included housing not only protects your camera lens from water ingress, but also from dust and dirt deposits, as it is IP68 protected.
All recordings are stored on a class 10 Micro SD card, which can have up to 64 GB.
Battery and runtime
In our opinion the battery is a bit weak, it is equipped with a maximum charging capacity of 900 mAh. If you film with Full HD resolution, this is enough for about 80 minutes of runtime. But you can also simply buy an additional battery.
Operation and handling
The menu structure is quite simple. You can navigate through the menu quickly and easily with the help of a few arrow keys.
However, you should not have too big fingers, because otherwise the operation is a bit difficult due to the small buttons. With the cover the cam can be operated a bit better.

Although the NexGadget Action Camera has a very ordinary design, which many cams in this field have. However, it is also noticeable that the hardware is quite mature and the handling is very easy.
The price/performance ratio is definitely right in our opinion. Unfortunately, the battery life is not so great, but you have the possibility to use several batteries and simply exchange the battery when it is empty.
