Not all too long on the market, the SPL Flexcopter series is what we liked best about the FX3 Light.
For beginners, the model is perfectly suited, because the SPL has a particularly safe rotor protection, is very robustly built and can survive crashes and collisions due to incorrect steering manoeuvres without problems.
The SPL mini drone is a pretty fast runner both outdoors and indoors, although there should not be too much wind outside.
In our report we will tell you what you should look out for when buying, for whom this drone is suitable and what the SPL Flexcopter FX3 has to offer.
Technical data
Before we come to the technical data, a few notes about the manufacturer.
SPL has specialised in the production of robots and RC toys and is now quite well known in the field of model making.
So you can assume that the models are of good quality.
Especially in the field of mini drones, the models are always equipped with a lot of new technology.
Size, design and weight
That the FX3 Quadrocopter is a mini drone becomes clear at the latest when you know its dimensions: 12 cm width x 12 cm length x 3 cm height. The diagonal diameter is 18 cm.
In fact, it is a damn small quadrocopter and since the weight is only about 65 grams, the FX3, despite its strong drives, unfortunately does not manage to counter strong gusts of wind.
Indoors, however, this is not a problem. Here a massive rotor protection against collision damage with objects in your apartment serves extra.
Really cool is the striking lighting of the FX3. The whole frame is illuminated, green and blue LEDs in the front and back of the rotors make sure of that.
Unfortunately no camera
Unfortunately, the FX3 drone does not have a camera, probably because this model is a mini drone. But you can perform cool 3D stunts with the mini drone at the touch of a button without having to have any special flying skills.
Battery, range and flight time
Despite the small dimensions, the battery seems to have a considerable size. Here a lithium polymer battery with a charging capacity of 500 mAh is used.
The flight time is 6-8 minutes with a loading time of about 90 minutes, which is not so great, but quite normal for mini drones of this size and price range.
We were especially impressed by the maximum range, which is 100 meters. However, you can’t fly that far with the FX3 anyway, as it is almost invisible from about 50 meters, due to its small size.
Note: Please keep in mind that there are certain drone laws in Germany, including that a drone must always be flown within visual range!
Flight Stabilization
Due to the 6-axis gyroscope stabilization system built into the drone, the quadrocopter always stabilizes itself.
As soon as you make a daring manoeuvre and release the control stick, the FX3 automatically goes into hovering flight.

Conclusion
For beginners top, for professionals a flop! This is the best way to describe the FX3 drone. However, advanced users also have something of it. The cool stunts are a lot of fun and the model is very fast and agile.
In the apartment you don’t have to be afraid of collisions with objects, because that’s what the rotor protection is for, and you can fly in the dark, because the Flex Copter is illuminated cool.
