Once again we looked around for a damn small mini drone and came across the TopRace Pocket Drone, which is equipped with a 6-axis gyro stabilization system and has 3 speed settings.
The model is quite small, fits in the palm of one hand and measures only 7.5 cm x 6.5 cm x 2.5 cm. All important parts are included to take off with the drone directly after charging the battery.
A disadvantage of this quadrocopter is to find out where here is front and back. This is especially difficult during fast flight maneuvers and rotations. However, front and rear can be easily recognized by different colored LEDs.
Technical data
Equipped with 2.4G auto-connection technology, headless flight mode and a 6-axis gyroscope system, the TopRace Pocket Drone is suitable for both advanced pilots and beginners.
The quadrocopter also has a return-to-home function, which doesn’t always seem to work very reliably according to some buyers.
One also has to mention that the price is under 30 € and that there is already a lot offered for it.
Even 360 degree flips are integrated, which you can trigger at the push of a button. There is also a compass mode and 3 different speed levels.
Should you ever lose your orientation and the Return-To-Home mode does not work, you also have the option of switching the drone to headless mode. Here you can control the quadrocopter freely on the plane, it doesn’t matter how the head is aligned.
The model is also recommended for children from the age of 7 years, ideal for birthdays or Christmas.
So the technical equipment is excellent and leaves nothing to be desired. In our opinion, the price-performance ratio is therefore very good!
Design
Robust and stable are the first features that stand out when you take a closer look at the TopRace Pocket Drone. The body, the propellers and all electronics are in a safe cage. This way the quadrocopter can withstand even severe collisions and forgives one or two crashes.
The design is colour-coordinated in a mixture of orange and black. The camera is recessed at the side and is hardly noticeable in itself. The remote control, in which you can use your drone to transport it safely, is also an advantage.
Camera
With the inconspicuously built in camera you can take photos as well as video recordings. For the fact that the drone is so cheap, the recordings also look like something. Typically, cameras in this price segment are not actually built in.
Of course you cannot compare the quality with a DJI drone camera, but it is a feature which is “nice to have” and surprised us positively.
In order to be able to save photo and video recordings, a 2 gigabyte memory card is included in the scope of delivery.
Flight behaviour
Despite the small size, the electronic system manages to keep the drone very stable and harmonious in the air. The problem only becomes problematic when the battery is running low and the drone wants to land, so you should use the “Return To Home Function” in time or bring the model safely to the ground.
There is obviously a weakness in the Return To Home function. Although the flight characteristics are otherwise very satisfactory, the TopRace Pocket Drone has problems flying back to the original starting point.
Battery, range and flight time
A battery with 3.7 Volt and 280 mAh is installed. This is sufficient for a flight time of about 4 to 5 minutes. The charging time is only 30 minutes. For such a small quadrocopter model these values are quite ok.
The flight distance is also perfectly adequate with a maximum range of 40 metres, as the model is quite small and is not really visible at long distances anyway.
Pros and cons
Advantages:

Disadvantages:
- Susceptible to wind
- Camera shots not very good
- Relatively short flight time
Conclusion – what could have been done even better?
All in all, the TopRace Pocket Drone is really worth its money, but there are still some things that could have been done better. For example, the flight time is quite short. 4-5 minutes and after that the flying fun is already over. However, it only takes 30 minutes to recharge and in this price and size class this flight time is quite normal.
We especially liked the 360 degree flip mode and the 3 different speed levels. For children and also adults this drone offers a lot of fun.
