The X5HC PRO is the revised version of the X5C/X5SC quadrocopter and shines with many new features, such as the headless mode and altitude barometer. So this drone is ideal for beginners and that’s why we took a closer look at the aircraft.
The advantage is that the quadrocopter is already assembled and almost ready for take-off. So you only have to charge the battery and you can take off. Here you can watch the test video:
Professionals who are used to drones from the higher price range, such as the DJI Mavic Pro or the Parrot Bebop 2, will not be able to do so much with the X5HC PRO quadrocopter. However, those who do not yet have flying experience and do not have that much budget available should take a closer look at the drones of the manufacturer Syma, Parrot and Hubsan.

Technical details of the X5HC PRO Quadrocopter
With the X5HC PRO’s battery, the drone stays in the air for quite a while, for about 10 minutes. Also included is a 5 in 1 charging cable, with which you can charge up to 5 batteries simultaneously. These are also changeable, so you can easily extend the flight time with a few intermediate landings.
The range is about 80 meters without any obstacle in the intermediate area. If this is the case, the connection may be terminated earlier. A 2.4 Ghz radio transmission is used for control.
If you have a lot of technical know-how, you could increase this range by increasing the transmission power. However, you should observe the applicable laws in Germany, because a drone may only be flown within visual range. In the remote control there is also a display which is responsible for showing the menu navigation and the most important flight data.
The processed material is of high quality and elastic enough to cushion falls. The dimensions are 31.5×31.5×5 cm, which is pretty good for a drone in this price range.
On the drone are LED’s installed, which flashes as soon as the aircraft is put into operation. They are mounted underneath and make it possible to control the quadrocopter even in the dark. This is a significant improvement over the previous model, which did not have such a light system installed.
A highlight in this price range, is the built-in camera, which has 2 megapixels and with which you can record videos in HD quality.

Properties and modes
The new successor version of the Syma X5C automatically maintains the set height due to the newly integrated height barometer. This makes flying the drone much more relaxed and you can concentrate better on taking pictures or shooting videos.
A new feature is the so-called headless mode, which is especially intended for beginners. Because of the simplified control behavior in this mode, a novice pilot can steer the drone in a certain direction without having to rethink.
Headless mode means that the Syma X5HC PRO Quadrocopter moves according to the joystick of the remote control. If the right lever is pushed forward, the remote controlled flying object flies away from the pilot. If it is pulled towards the pilot, the drone returns to the transmitter, regardless of the direction in which the flying object’s head is pointing.
A cool gadget is the flip function of the X5HC PRO drone. At the push of a button, it performs a roll and then automatically returns to hover flight.
For advanced users there is the possibility to order the FPV expansion kit. With this kit the images are transferred directly to the smartphone or tablet and you can watch LIVE what the drone is watching and recording. The transmission works via WIFI. In some shops the expansion kit is already included with the model.
With the FPV Kit, the camera image can be observed live on the smartphone. For this you need an app and a compatible smartphone. The FPV App is available in the Appstore for Android and IOS.
Advantages and disadvantages
Of course you can’t expect too much at this price. A few things we didn’t like too much are the short range, the short flight time and the long charging time of about 120 minutes. We have again compared all advantages and disadvantages for you:
Advantages:
- Very cheap – everyone can afford it
- Integrated altitude barometer – drone stands stable in the air and automatically maintains altitude
- Well suited for beginners, the headless mode provides a simplified control
- Wide range of accessories
Disadvantages:
- Flight range only 30-50 m
- The flight duration is limited to about 10 min per battery charge
The X5HC PRO compared to other drones
The X5HC PRO is a fairly simple, compact drone, which is ideal for beginners. But of course there are other quadrocopters that are simply top!
If you still have little flying experience, we recommend that you start flying a mini drone. Parrot and DJI are brands that we can fully recommend.
In our tests, we had deliberately crashed both the Parrot Mambo and the Parrot Airborne Night several times. The drones did not suffer any damage.
This is also a small disadvantage of the X5HC PRO compared to such a mini drone. The Airborne Night is only half the size of the X5HC PRO, and is therefore less likely to break in the event of a crash.
Furthermore it is worth to have a look at the sister model, the Syma X5SW. This drone doesn’t have an altitude stabilizer and the improvements of the XH5C PRO drone, but the Wifi package doesn’t have to be purchased optionally, but is already included in the standard package.
Conclusion
If you like technical gadgets and want to train your flying skills, this drone is very well suited for beginners as well as advanced pilots.
However, there are cheaper drone models, like the predecessor of the X5HC PRO. The DJI drone, the Ryze DJI Tello, is much better value for money, but this is a mini drone.
