In our test reports we have always presented you many good action cameras.

However, an action cam does not necessarily have to be used only for action-packed film shots, but is also suitable for normal photography. For example, a smartphone and an action camera are now all that is needed to capture holiday experiences, hikes and trips for eternity.

Of course, it is particularly important that the camera has a high resolution and has a large storage capacity.

So we started looking for such a cam for you again and came across the Dragon Touch Action Cam.

The battery has a capacity that is sufficient for 90 minutes of continuous shooting.

Divers and water sports enthusiasts can also rely on the stable cover, which is also included in the scope of delivery. With the waterproof case you can dive up to 30 meters deep. This makes the Dragon Touch Action Cam perfect for holidays where bathing fun is allowed. Whether swimming, diving, surfing or snorkeling, wherever it gets wet and splashing, the underwater housing does a good job and protects the camera model from penetrating moisture.

We were also impressed by the versatile functions of the Dragon Touch Action Cam. For example, you can use the camera as a dash cam thanks to loop recording. You should inform yourself about the legal situation in advance.

Technical data and facts

This model is extremely versatile and there is even a wrist strap that allows you to take framing shots or video recordings via a wireless 2.4 Ghz connection. For this operation there are 2 buttons on the remote control, you can of course strap it to your arm or belt. Please note that the remote control is not waterproof!

Integrated is also a Wi-Fi control, thanks to which it is possible, for example, to view the recorded images in real time on the smartphone.

All you have to do is download the XDV app and save it on your smartphone or tablet.

You can switch on the WLAN by pressing the “Up” button for 3 seconds. Afterwards the image of the photo sensor captured at the moment will be transferred to your device in real time. Both Android and iOS devices can be connected to the action camera. Please note, however, that the WiFi signal only reaches up to 10 metres.

After recording, you can also share the data on social networks. You can also use the cable to connect the camera and TV via the HDMI port.

Thanks to the 4x zoom, you can also film distant objects. Unfortunately, many action cameras do not have such a function.

The set also includes a wide range of mounting accessories. Included are 2 rechargeable 1050 mAh batteries. The accessory kit is even compatible with most cameras. For example you can even use the attachments with a GoPro Cam.

The transport is no problem, because the camera is really very compact!

Design

Many people buy the Dragon Touch Action Cam because they are looking for a cheap alternative to GoPro. With a GoPro you not only have to pay more, but also buy all the accessories. Here you have a lot of free accessories included in the set.

Even though this cam is a good value GoPro replacement, it does not have the same qualities and looks.

On top of the camera is the “Confirmation Button”. On the right side are the “up/down buttons” for menu control. Above there is also a light, if it shines, this means that the camera is recording.

On the left are various connections, including the external microphone, which is also included in the set. The slot for the memory card is also located here.

The waterproof housing is transparent and keeps watertight down to a depth of about 30 meters. The 3-button control is also done with the housing, because waterproof buttons are built in for this purpose.

Camera

The Dragon Touch Action Cam features a high-quality 16 MP photo sensor, which allows you to capture exciting adventures and spectacular moments for eternity.

Video recordings are recorded at 30 frames per second with a maximum of 4K. But you can also set many other resolution values.

Here are the most important resolution formats:

4K at 30 frames per second
2,7K at 30 frames per second
1080P at 60 fps

The recordings of the 4x Full HD resolution are very impressive, appear razor-sharp and reproduce the recorded image in great detail.

A 64 GB micro SD card is used as storage medium. But you have to buy this card separately.

Camera battery and runtime

The scope of delivery includes 2 rechargeable batteries. Each of the two lithium batteries has a charge storage of about 1050 mAh.

How long the real battery life will last in the end depends on the setting you have chosen. For example, if the camera is used in 1080P resolution format, the battery will last up to 90 minutes. With 2K or 4K, up to 60 minutes.

Since there are 2 of them in the scope of delivery, you can record 120 to 180 minutes by interrupting briefly in the middle and changing the battery.

For which uses is this camera suitable?

The Dragon Touch Action Cam is extremely versatile. Because of its extensive scope of supply you can mount it everywhere.

Thanks to the waterproof cover, the cam is also protected against water penetration. So you can dive, snorkel and ski with this model without any problems.

As usual you can operate the Dragon Touch Action Cam with a 3-point control. In the menu you can directly set the different functions and modes in which the camera should work.

The menu structure is very tidy and clearly arranged, so even beginners can find their way around very easily and quickly.
