In this report we introduce the EECOO Action Cam with 2 rechargeable batteries and a USB charger.
The model has several connectors, such as HDMI and USB to be able to connect to different media.
The camera has a wide angle of about 170 degrees, which reduces the blind spot as much as possible. This is especially important if you want to use the EECOO Action Cam as a car camera. It also means that more light hits the photo sensor, which provides even better image quality.
In the menu you can make the most important settings regarding image sharpness and recording modes.
Water sports enthusiasts, especially the divers and snorkelers among you, will certainly have a lot of fun with the EECOO Action Cam, because the underwater housing in the set is waterproof up to a depth of 30 meters and protects against the penetration of water.

Technical data and facts
Thanks to the excellent screen size, you can view the photos and videos very well, but there is also a Wifi component, thanks to which you can also view the recordings on a smartphone or tablet and share them on social networks.
One thing we noticed very positively was the photo quality. Thanks to the 16 MP photo sensor you can create videos up to a resolution of 4K. The high definition quality pays off, because the video recordings make a very realistic impression and reflect the experiences in a very high quality.
A 2.4 G remote control is also included. You can start/stop recordings or take pictures with this controller. With a loop you can also tie the remote control around your wrist or belt. Please note that this module is not waterproof!
Design
Optically, the EECOO Action Cam is pretty good. In the front area next to the camera there is a small colourless LCD display where you can read the time and the battery charge status, among other things.
On the back you will also find the 2 inch LTPS display where you can view your recordings.
The Ok- or confirmation button is located above the sheathing, on the right the two buttons for “up” and “down” for operation and control in the menu. On the left is the microphone, the Micro SD slot, the Micro USB, and the HD output.
The three-point control also works when the camera is inside the housing. For this purpose, appropriate buttons are provided, which also protect against the penetration of water.
The underwater housing is transparent. Both screens in the front and on the back are therefore well visible.
Image sensor, resolution and memory
As already mentioned, the EECOO Action Cam is equipped with a 16 MP strong photo sensor. Normally, the videos are produced with a resolution of 4K at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.
In the menu you can also set other resolution values and frame rates. This has the advantage that a lower resolution saves more battery and storage capacity. However, a lower pixel density naturally has a negative effect on the image quality itself.
So that you know what to expect, we have briefly listed the possible resolution values for videos:
- 4K at 30 frames per second
- 2.7k at 30 fps
- 1080P at 30 and 60 fps
- 720P at 60 and 120 fps
You can also set different photo resolutions. You can choose between the following values in the menu: 16 MP, 12 MP, 8 MP, 5 MP, 2 MP.
Photos are saved in JPEG format and videos in MP4.
The lens has a multi-stage glass system for high quality assurance.
In the menu there is the possibility to use different shooting modes. Among other things there is loop recording and timelapse. Therefore the EECOO Action Cam is also great for dashcams.
With the help of Wifi you can easily share pictures and videos in real time via app (XDV).
A Micro SD card is used as storage medium, which can have up to 128 GB. You have to buy such a card separately. We recommend that you format the storage medium before use!
Battery and runtime
The camera is supplied with 2 dual 1050 mAh batteries, which provide for video recordings up to 90 minutes each.
Each battery has a voltage of 3.85 volts. Li-ion batteries are used here. To charge a battery, up to 3 hours are needed.
The EECOO Action Cam is therefore more in the middle of the field in terms of the battery unit’s performance.
Menu navigation
The operation is very simple and clearly arranged. Thanks to the 3-point control, you can’t do very much wrong and you can make all kinds of settings.
In the menu there are also many cool functions, such as loop recording. As already mentioned, there is also the 2.4G remote control, which is included in the delivery and with which you can start a recording of the camera or trigger a photo.
For which applications is the EECOO Action Cam suitable?
Due to the high quality, this model can also be used as a normal photo or video camera.
The EECOO Action Cam has a relatively wide range of applications, however, it is often used as an outdoor camera for sports activities.
Often the cam is also used for skiing, climbing, cycling or diving.

Conclusion
There are many athletes who are convinced by the EECOO Action Cam. Of course you cannot compare it to a GoPro. But it is well suited for cycling, diving or skiing.
Appropriate brackets are included in the set, there are 18 accessories in total. In most cases the helmet mount is used.
