In today’s report, we present a small micro camera, which you can use in many ways.
It has very small dimensions: 24 mm x 24 mm x 32 mm and is therefore ideal as a camera for racing drones. With a weight of 14 g the coin-sized cam is very suitable for light aircraft models.
With some drones you will need some experience to install the cam safely and stable.
In the scope of supply also a suitable mounting plate is included, unfortunately there is however no waterproof housing!
The video resolution is good with 1080P and 30 frames per second. You can also set 720P at 30 fps.
Further technical data and facts
Unfortunately the camera does not have a Wifi or Bluetooth function. There is also no display! You have to add these extras to your drone via other components if you don’t want to do without them.
The built-in photo sensor of Generalplus has 2 MP. Quality is very important here, the manufacturer is known for producing image sensors for various dashcams.
All recordings are saved in AVI format. A MicroSD memory card is required for this. Memory cards with a size between 8 and 32 Gbyte can be used.
Thanks to the 160 degree wide angle lens you always have everything in view. The field of view is very good and therefore the camera is also ideal for sightseeing flights or drone racing.
The camera has a USB socket that allows you to pick up an AV signal and connect a monitor or other components such as a Wifi module.
Design
There is not really much to say about the look of the camera, except that it is really very compact and small.
It has a rather angular shape and a USB output on the side, and a microphone.
The microphone records the sound in high quality. The soundtrack recordings sound much better than on some action cameras.
Battery
The Hawkeye Firefly is equipped with a battery with a storage capacity of 200 mAh. When fully charged, it supplies the camera with power for 1 hour. Afterwards you have to charge it again.

Conclusion
Of course the recording quality of the video is not comparable to a GoPro. The price range here is also completely different. The main benefits of the camera are the low weight and the good video quality for the low price.
Especially for racing drones the camera is ideal, here often less attention is paid to the quality of the shot but more to the practical use. This includes the lowest possible weight and compact dimensions.
It is therefore not a common action camera and can therefore not be compared to such a camera.
Many field reports show that you can definitely rely on the recording quality. In our opinion, the frame rate of 30 fps at the 720P resolution is too low. We could have got much more out of this, because a high frame rate is very important for a realistic FPV experience.
The low price is another reason to buy for many. There are also more expensive cameras with a lower resolution, so we recommend you to buy the Hawkeye Firefly Micro Cam !
