The iMars M80 Cam is a good action camera for beginners, with a great photo sensor and a great design.
There’s even a dual mic integrated for better sound quality.
In the menu you also have the possibility to make many different settings. This model is often bought by divers and water sports enthusiasts, as it has a waterproof housing.
There’s one more thing that we’re particularly pleased about, and that is the fact that the camera is quite different from the competition in terms of design. So you won’t get an action cam in the standard version here.

The technical data and facts
The camera can be controlled via a 2.4G controller, which you can also attach to your wrist strap or trousers.
A WiFi system is also integrated, allowing you to connect the action camera to your smartphone. Here the pictures are transmitted in real time and you can make many different settings.
Since action cameras are often used in spectacular situations, it can happen that photographs are blurred. This is where the manufacturer of the iMars M80 camera came in and developed an electronic image stabilization system to ensure that photos are not blurred after shooting.

Camera, photo and video resolution
To be able to create breathtaking image and video material, the manufacturer has installed a high-quality photo sensor. This is the Sony IMX175.
This is a 5.77 mm (type 1/3.2) CMOS photo sensor, which has a square pixel array. The power consumption of the sensor is very low. It also has an electronic shutter with variable charge storage time. The chip is also used in other devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs.
The lens is a F2.5G fisheye with a 170 degree wide angle.
The camera has 20 megapixels, but this is an interpolation. This means that the resolution is extrapolated by the camera and does not correspond to the actual value. Which is a clear point of criticism in our opinion.
In the menu you can set some different resolution values. We have written them down for you.
For video recordings you can choose as follows:
- 4K at 30 frames per second – with or without electronic image stabilization
- 2.7K at 30 fps
- 1080P at 60 or 30 fps
- 720P at 120 fps
There are different modes in the menu which you can set. For example you can record looping videos, here you can choose between off / 1 min / 3 min and 5 minutes. For time-lapse there are also different intervals (Off / 1 Sec / 5 Sec / 10 Sec / 30 Sec and 60 Sec).
Additionally, there is the slow-motion version, which is only available in the resolution values 1080P (60 fps) and 720P (120 fps).
You can also adjust the white balance, ISO value and choose between many different languages.
Design
In terms of design, we particularly liked the arrangement of the controls and the rounded contours of the model.
On the back is the 2.0 inch HD display with 320 x 240 pixels.
Battery
The battery which was installed here has an average running time and delivers up to 1A current at 5V operating voltage. If you want to fully charge the battery, up to 4 hours are needed here.
How long the maximum recording time ultimately is, depends in particular on the set resolution value of the video recording and the type of use, for example which modes are used.

How well does the model perform compared to the competition?
One point that speaks especially for the iMars M80 WiFi camera is its low price. In the usual shops you can get the action cam for around 50€, but that’s not all. We have even linked an online shop for you below, where you can get a discount again and end up paying just over 35€ for the model.
The price/performance ratio is therefore unbeatably good compared to the competition. The photo and video recordings are very high quality for this price category. The only thing that bothers us a bit is the interpolation, which we think you could save yourself, as the recording quality doesn’t really get much better.

Conclusion
In our opinion, the iMars M80 camera has such a good price/performance ratio and is so easy to use that it is particularly suitable for beginners. You don’t really need a lot of budget for the purchase and you get a lot delivered. Because the scope of delivery is also impressive.
Compared to other cameras, the controls are also not on the side but above the model. You can also operate the cam above the model when it is in the underwater housing.
